Tigane, Southern Africa
Our first waste-to-value plant
The Tigane waste-to-value plant in Southern Africa is a semi-circular plant. It derives methane-rich biogas from the wastewater generated at the neighbouring poultry processing facility. This biogas is used to generate energy in the form of heat, creating a sustainable heat source for the same neighbouring facility. This project was developed and operated by Green Create prior to ownership being transferred to another party.
Specifics
What’s left of the wastewater at the plant is treated such that it can be safely discharged into the municipal network. A portion of the wastewater is treated further for re-utilisation as grey water at the poultry processing facility. The Tigane plant was our first plant and served as our proof of concept. It was our springboard onto the larger biomethane facilities we’re building today.
- The Tigane W2V plant treats up to 1,500m3 of raw abattoir effluent per day and generates 400kW of thermal energy.
